In 2025, malatang was everywhere on our feeds — trending across Peninsular Malaysia, filling up KL and Penang, but nowhere to be found in Kuching. For our Muslim friends and neighbours, it was even further out of reach. We saw the gap and decided to close it ourselves.
Pergh was born from that decision — to bring the bold, comforting flavours of malatang to Kuching, made in a way that welcomes everyone at the table. No pork, no lard, no shortcuts on flavour.
Bigger chains have since arrived. Smaller ones have opened. But we're proud to have been the first Muslim-friendly malatang in Kuching — and prouder still that our community keeps coming back for the food, the warmth, and the hospitality we built this place on.
This is malatang, made for Kuching.
